Falcons win rematch easily

Week 2
September 17, 2017 - 7:30 p.m. - NBC
Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Atlanta, Georgia

Packers 23 - Falcons 34

In a rematch of last year's NFC Championship game, the Atlanta Falcons once again took it to the Packers.  With added headlines of this game being the Sunday Night contest on NBC and the first game in the Falcons new stadium, all eyes were on this football game.  Unfortunately, the Packers did not fare well, again.  In the NFCCG, the Packers trailed 24-0 at halftime.  In this contest, the Packers trailed 24-7.  Progress?  Sure.

The Falcons lead 31-7 early in the third quarter.  And the Falcons really turned off the gas the entire second half.  The game really wasn't as close as the final score appears.

The defense was rolled again.  The offense struggled.  Granted, it's Week 2 and the Packers are already decimated with injuries (important players).  The Packers were without "both" starting tackles on the offensive line.  Things became difficult for Aaron Rodgers as he had a tough day at the office.  During the game, Jordy Nelson, Mike Daniels, Nick Perry, and Randall Cobb were all noticeable injuries.

Of note, Aaron Rodgers' threw his 300th career touchdown pass.  It wasn't fancy, a shovel pass to Ty Montgomery for the score.  And Clay Matthews is now one sack from becoming the Packers all-time sack leader.

Packers top Seahawks in defensive battle

Week 1
September 10, 2017 - 3:25 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 17 - Seahawks 9

If you like defense, this was the game for you.  Neither offense could move the ball for a majority of the first half.  And it wasn't due to bad offense... more effective and efficient defense by both the Packers and Seahawks.  For Seattle, that is expected.  For Green Bay, not to much.

Seattle entered halftime with a 3-0 lead.  The Packers offense struggled to complete extended drives against the Seahawks stout defense.  Finally, a Mike Daniels strip sack gave the Packers possession on the Seattle five yard line.  One play later Ty Montgomery punched the ball into the end zone to give the Packers the lead for good.  Later in the game, Rodgers connected with Jordy Nelson to extend the Packers lead.

The defense played very well.  They were physical and brought pressure all game.
We will have to see how they hold up next week against the high speed offense of Atlanta.

Packers fall short in NFCCG

NFC Championship
January 22, 2017 - 2:05 p.m. - FOX
Georgia Dome
Atlanta, Georgia

Packers 21 - Falcons 44

The Packers ran out of steam in the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.  With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, the Packers just didn't have enough to top the red-hot Falcons.  It's possible injuries finally caught up to the team.  It's also entirely possible the team was just exhausted.  The NFC Championship game was the fifteenth consecutive week of football for the Packers, as their bye week was Week 4.  Critical mistakes were made in the first half including a missed field goal by Mason Crosby and a fumble lost near the goal line by Aaron Ripkowski.  The Packers trailed the Falcons at halftime 28-0 and the game all but over.  The defense got shredded.  And that is being kind.

It was a great run by the Packers.  From 4-6 to winning the final six games of the regular season and securing the NFC North division crown.  To beating the Giants and shocking the Cowboys in the playoffs.  The Packers won eight consecutive games to play to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  Unfortunately, we came up short, again.  Time to reload and recover and take care of business next season.  The Super Bowl is in Minnesota.  Now wouldn't that be sweet.  Go Pack Go!

Packers start slow, finish strong in Wild Card matchup

NFC Wild Card Round
January 8, 2017 - 3:40 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 38 - Giants 13

The Packers started extremely sluggish in their Wild Card matchup with the New York Giants.  Fortunately, that changed at the end of the first half.  Rodgers connected with Davante Adams for a score with 2:20 left in the first half that gave the Packers a 7-6 lead.  Rodgers added to the lead completing a Hail Mary to Randall Cobb on the last play of the first half.

The Giants didn't have an answer for Aaron Rodgers or the Packers in the second half.  Rodgers finished the day with 362 passing yards and four touchdowns.  Randall Cobb exploded catching three touchdowns with 116 receiving yards.  Adams played well again hauling in eight receptions for 125 yards.  The Packers defense held their own keeping Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. in check.

On to the NFC Divisional Round in Dallas.

Note: Jordy Nelson suffered a rib injury and his status for future playoff games is uncertain.

Packers run the table to win NFC North

Week 17
January 1, 2017 - 7:30 p.m. - NBC
Ford Field
Detroit, Michigan

Packers 31 - Lions 24

Aaron Rodgers said it and the Packers did it.

The Green Bay Packers ran the table and finished the season as the NFC North division champions.  Once 4-6, the Packers won their last six games to punch a ticket to the postseason.  Rodgers was excellent throwing for 300 yards and four touchdowns.  Geronimo Allison was the leading receiver with 91 yards and a touchdown.  Davante Adams also had a nice game hauling in a pair of touchdowns.

It should be noted that due several successful playoff scenarios during the early NFL games, the Packers clinched a playoff spot prior to the start of the Lions game.  However, the Packers wanted more.  The division crown.

The Packers will face the New York Giants at Lambeau Field during next week's Wild Card round.

Packers win 5th straight

Week 16
December 24, 2016 - 12 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 38 - Vikings 25

The Packers defeated the Vikings to win their fifth straight game and set up an NFC North showdown in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions for the division crown.

Led by another MVP performance by Aaron Rodgers, the offense was clicking on all cylinders.  Rodgers threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns.  Rodgers also ran for a touchdown.  Jordy Nelson was unstoppable as he caught nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

The Vikings played well, but not well enough, as they were fighting for their season.  With the Packers win, the Vikings were eliminated from playoff consideration.

With the win, the Packers have set up a showdown in Detroit in Week 17.  The winner will win the NFC North division title.

Rodgers, Nelson save the day

Week 15
December 18, 2016 - 12 p.m. - FOX
Soldier Field
Chicago, Illinois

Packers 30 - Bears 27

Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson saved the day.

With under a minute remaining and the game tied, Rodgers connected with Nelson for 60 yards to put the Packers in field goal range for Mason Crosby to kick a game-winning field goal at the buzzer in Chicago.

The win extends the winning streak to four.  Currently, the Packers now hold the 6th seed in the NFC playoffs.  With a Detroit loss to the New York Giants, the Packers now control their own destiny.  Win the next two games and they will win the NFC North division.  Wild Card spot is also a possibility, but unlikely.

Ty Montgomery had a monster game (as a running back). Ty rushed for 162 yards on 16 carries and had two touchdowns.  Montgomery is getting better each week, which is very encouraging.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had a nice game as well as he intercepted Bears quarterback Matt Barkley twice in the third quarter.

Packers rout Seahawks at home

Week 14
December 11, 2016 - 3:25 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 38 - Seahawks 10

The Packers dominated the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field to extend their winning streak to three games. The Packers improved their record to 7-6 on the season and kept pace in the NFC playoff picture.

Another small dose of revenge against the Seahawks after the 2014 playoff game.  The Packers crushed the Seahawks.  Aaron Rodgers threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns.  Rodgers' continued to play with a banged up hamstring and reportedly hurt his calf during the game.  Despite the injuries, QB1 was lights out against the number one defense in the NFL.  The Packers got the game off and running as Rodgers' connected with Davante Adams for a 66-yard touchdown on the third play of the game.  Adams finished the day with 104 receiving yards.  Jordy Nelson had 41 receiving yards and caught two touchdowns.

The story of the game goes to the defense.  The Packers intercepted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson five times.  That's right, FIVE times (Burnett, Randall (2), Rollins, Hyde).  Seattle finished the game with a total of six turnovers.  Wilson was also sacked three times.

Packers defeat Texans in the snow

Week 13
December 4, 2016 - 12 p.m. - CBS
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 21 - Texans 13

The Packers do just enough to beat the Houston Texans at snowy Lambeau Field to keep their playoff hopes alive.  The snowy conditions neutralized the field and made it difficult to execute.  With the win, the Packers have evened their record at 6-6, however, remain two games behind the Detroit Lions in the division.  In the Wild Card race, the Packers are only one game behind the Tampa Bay Bucs, however, there is a lot of teams in the hunt.

Aaron Rodgers, playing with a sore hamstring, tossed two touchdowns.  Jordy Nelson continued a solid season with 8 receptions for 118 yards.  Nelson also caught his 10th touchdown of the season.

Packers keep season alive in Philly

Week 12
November 28, 2016 - 7:30 p.m. - ESPN
Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia, PA

Packers 27 - Eagles 13

The Packers finally looked like the Green Bay Packers as they snapped a four-game losing streak on Monday Night Football in Philadelphia.  The win also saved the Packers season as they remain two games behind the Detroit Lions in the division with five games to play.

The Packers were led by Aaron Rodgers with 313 passing yards and two touchdowns.  Davante Adams continued his breakout season with 113 receiving yards and being the recipient of both Rodgers' touchdowns.

Redskins hand Green Bay fourth straight loss

Week 11
November 20, 2016 - 7:30 p.m. - NBC
FedEx Field
Landover, Maryland

Packers 24 - Redskins 42

The Packers defense continued their horrific stretch of performance.  For the second straight week, the Packers gave up 40+ points.  A laundry list of injuries and lack of talent crushing the team's chances of being successful this year.  Sometimes, it's just not your year.  2016 is not the Packers year.

This loss marks the fourth consecutive loss for the Packers.  This is the first time the team has lost four in a row since 2008.

Titans crush Packers in Nashville

Week 11
November 13, 2016 - 12 p.m. - FOX
Nissan Stadium
Nashville, Tennessee

Packers 25 - Titans 47

This game wasn't even close.  The Titans outplayed and out-coached the Packers, in all facets of the game.  The Packers trailed 21-0 after the first quarter.  The banged up defense could not stop Marcus Mariota and Demarco Murray.  The Packers had zero (0) energy in this game.  The Packers have now lost three games in a row and find themselves under .500 heading to Washington next week.

Colts down Pack at Lambeau

Week 9
November 6th, 2016 - 3:25 p.m. - CBS
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 26 - Colts 31

Late TD completes comeback for Falcons

Week 8
October 30, 2016 - 12 p.m. - FOX
Georgia Dome
Atlanta, Georgia

Packers 32 - Falcons 33

In a game where points were not hard to come by, the team with the ball last was bound to win.  In this case, the Atlanta Falcons.  The Falcons' Matt Ryan connected with Mohamed Sanu for the go-ahead touchdown with 31 seconds left.  And that was all she wrote.

Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns, but to some names you might not recognize.  Rodgers connected with Jordy Nelson, Geronimo Allison, Trevor Davis, and Jeff Janis for touchdowns.

The Packers drop to 4-3 on the season.

Adams' big night leads Packers over Bears

Week 7
October 20, 2016 - 7:30 p.m. - CBS/NFL Network
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 26 - Bears 10

Things did not look good at halftime as the Packers led the Bears 6-3.  And after an early 3rd quarter fumble by Aaron Rodgers recovered by the Bears in the end zone, the Bears led 10-6.  The Packers were struggling against a bad Bears team.

Luckily, the Packers got a spark in the second half and closed out the Bears.  Rodgers completed 39 passes, a new franchise record.  Rodgers also threw for 326 passing yards and three touchdowns.  Davante Adams had a solid game with 13 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

The Packers improved to 4-2 on the young season.

The team participated in the league's "Color Rush" program for Thursday Night Football.  The Packers wore all white uniforms at home.

Rodgers' struggles continue against Cowboys

Week 6
October 16, 2016 - 3:25 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 16 - Cowboys 30

The Packers offensive struggles, headlined by Aaron Rodgers, have hit near rock bottom.  The Cowboys with a weak secondary shut down the Packers offense.  Aaron Rodgers continued with poor accuracy and decision making.  QB1 is really in a funk right now.  An interception thrown, that was more like a Brett Favre pick, to go along with a fumble lost on the 5-yard line.  Rodgers needs to work through this funk quickly if the Packers want a shot at the playoffs this year.  Jordy Nelson and Ty Montgomery added a fumble of their own.  Injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks will not help the offensive problems going forward.

Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott was very impressive.  The quarterback handled himself very well in his first start at Lambeau Field.  The Packers did intercept Prescott, the first interception of his career.

Brett Favre was honored at halftime with his name unveiled in the bowl at Lambeau Field along side the rest of the Packers in the Pro Football Hall of Hame.

Defense shines in win over Giants

Week 5
October 9, 2016 - 7:30 p.m. - NBC
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 23 - Giants 16

Although shorthanded, the defense carried the Packers to a victory over the New York Giants.  The Packers defense allowed only 219 total yards and caused four sacks of Eli Manning.  The offense was successful in the first quarter, however, struggled the remaining three quarters.  Jordy Nelson caught his fifth touchdown in four games.  The Packers improved to 3-1 in the early season.

Rodgers' back on track in home opener

Week 3
September 25, 2016 - 12 p.m. - FOX
Lambeau Field
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Packers 34 - Lions 27

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense found rhythm as they outlasted the Lions 34-27.  Rodgers threw four touchdowns in the first half with two of them going to Jordy Nelson.  A banged up defense made it interesting late, but the Packers survived to move to 2-1 with a much needed bye week upcoming.
